365 Days of Dance

Devoting a little bit of time each day next year to dancing...Are you ready for it?  Do you think you can do it?  I'm doing it!

After reading Lisa Zahiya's newsletter article and blog post about her commitment to practice belly dance for at least 30 minutes a day, every day, for the next year, I decided to do the same.  I've even convinced a few of my troupe mates to join along with me.

Like Lisa, I'll be breaking my practice down into three 10 minute segments throughout the day.  I'm a work at home Mom, so finding 10 minutes here, or 10 minutes there, is a helluva lot easier than being able to consistently find 30 minutes.  I'm also planning on some sort of reward system for every 45, or maybe 30, days of dance;  I'm thinking a manicure, a pedicure, new practice clothes.....

I'm also thinking of starting early.

So whose with me?

P.S.  The free clip art belly dancers was provided by Me'ira.

  1. I'm with you! I've been desperately wanting to practice every day, especially now that I'm learning more complicated combos, I've got to work hard to keep them in my mind!

  2. So glad you'll be joining us, AJ! It will depend on what the schedule is at the Al Moro studio for next year, but I would like to be able to add another class.

Are you going to have a rewards program for yourself?

  3. I'm not sure if I want to add more classes or focus more on getting better at what I already know -- like revisiting the combos I learned in Palm Flame and Sword classes this year.

A rewards program seems like a good idea... maybe for every day that I stick with my practice routine, I can put $1 in my costume fund :)

  4. A dollar-a-day sounds like a good idea.
Would you save it up for a whole year or spend as you go?

I'm still deciding on my rewards program. Heck, I'm still fine tuning my days.

  5. This is awesome! I'm doing a 365 A Day project also, I'm teaching myself a beading lesson a day for 365, today is 72! Sorry I can't shimmy, or I would go with you! There is a FB page for the 365 a day projects if you want to see what other people are doing, it's pretty cool. Good luck!
